Nine Years Ago Today

It’s one of those times you will for the rest of your life remember where you were.  I was expecting our first child and not quite awake when the phone rang. It was dear Sis Smith  calling to ask people to pray for our country. I couldn’t quite understand what she was saying. I think she had to repeat herself a couple times. By this time, the first three planes had hit their marks. My first thought was “So this is it, the end of the world.” (Pretty ethnocentric huh?)

My second thought was, ” What are we thinking bringing a baby into this world? Maybe we shouldn’t.”  Nine years and five babies later I’ve obviously decided we SHOULD! This is my counter attack. No, I have no guarantee that my children will grow up to be salt and light, but by God’s grace they will. They will be warriors of the one true Kingdom for the one true King of Kings.   “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. ” Psalm 127:3-5
